Hey there, fellow DIY enthusiasts! It's been fantastic sharing my condo renovation journey with you all on Instagram. I'm thrilled that many of you loved my recent reel about a handy tip for preserving paint brushes. Today, I want to dive deeper into this hack and provide you with more details.
So, we've all been there – you're in the middle of a painting project, and you need to take a break, either because you're coming back to it in a few days or simply because life gets in the way. The last thing you want to do is waste time washing those paint brushes or rollers if you plan to use them again soon. Here's where the plastic wrap trick comes in handy.
If you have paint brushes or rollers with paint on them that you don't want to wash right away, consider wrapping them in a plastic bag, Ziplock bag, or plastic wrap.
By doing so, you effectively seal the moisture in and prevent the paint from drying out, giving you some extra time to pick up where you left off with your painting project.
Now, some folks might suggest taking an additional step and storing your paint-covered brushes in the fridge as another method to keep them wet. While this technique can work, I must admit it didn't go so well in my experience. My food started taking on the aroma of my paint, which wasn't exactly the appetizing experience I was hoping for! So, personally, I wouldn't recommend this approach.
TL;DR: the plastic wrap method is a practical and straightforward way to extend the lifespan of your paint brushes, especially when you're faced with short breaks between painting sessions. It buys you some extra time without having to worry about dried-up brushes. Just be sure not to let your food mingle with your paint, unless you're into that sort of avant-garde cuisine!
I hope you find this tip as useful as I did. Let me know if you have any other renovation or DIY questions – I'm here to help you beautify your living space one brushstroke at a time! Happy painting! 🎨
